Meet Shavonne Holton

Shavonne Holton is a creative visionary, educator, and founder of VK Press. In early 2016, she worked in higher education by day and began writing her first manuscript at night. As she neared completion, Shavonne struggled with the decision; self-publishing or traditional publishing. In the end, she realized that she preferred a hybrid model as it allowed writers the creative freedom of self-publishing while ensuring the book production quality of traditional publishing.

By October 2016, she founded VK Press and published her memoir, Dating Daddy: Realizing God as Father through Daddy Issues and Bad Romance in early 2017. Shavonne felt that her faith journey could help other women make meaning of heartbreak.

Through the publishing process, she offers strategies to help writers leverage their books for worthwhile endeavors. Shavonne continues to work primarily with Midwest writers and artists in hopes of spreading their stories around the world.
